Helloooo! There's a fun new release happening tomorrow morning at 10am EDT at The Greetery, featuring new stamps, dies and stencils perfect for making those always-challenging guy cards! BUT, as you'll see, you can make more than just guy cards with some of these items! I've got a trio of cards to share with you today, and I've put together a bonus post for you tomorrow, featuring three more cards just for fun! I hope you'll stop by here in the morning, before you head to The Greetery to do your shopping!
For today, let's start things off with a card that I'm sure nearly every man on the planet (who's not a vegetarian) would appreciate! Haha! I don't know a single guy who doesn't like a good steak, so this new set called Dad Jokes: High Steaks, is immensely versatile for all the guys you know! Guy birthday cards, guy graduation cards, Father's Day cards, guy friend cards or even lovey cards for your guy.....this set has you covered!
Before we move on to the focal point though, let me tell you about the background! I wanted to create a manly sort of grilling apron situation, so I used one of the two new stencil sets called Tartan Builder Stencils, to create the background. And would you believe me if I told you I did all of that with just one ink pad? It's true! Each of the two plaid building stencil sets includes five layering stencils. In this case, I chose to only use three of them, but you can layer them on in whatever combination you want, and with however many inks you want, to create endless possibilities!
PRO TIP: When using layered stencils and just one ink pad, change the amount of pressure you use with your ink blending tool, for the different layers! You can also add more ink or less on the different layers, to create various shades of color, thus giving your background a multi-colored look, with just one ink color!
I started off stamping that fun steak.....it's super easy! Just two stamps for the meat -- I used shades of brown that I'll link below for you. And then, I used one of the same browns for the fork and knife handles. And then, you just HAVE to try heat embossing the metal part of the fork and knife!! I used silver embossing powder and it creates the most fun detail! SO stinkin' cute!
PRO TIP: Make sure the inks on your steak are completely dry before using embossing powder on the fork! Otherwise, you'll get bits of silver sparkle on your steak! Take my word for it. Ha!
I also used another new product here - the Text Box Die, which creates that fun little frame situation! I used a couple of tiny sentiments from the companion Sentiments Squared stamp set, to add the "grateful for you" and "no. 1". The sentiments included in Dad Jokes: High Steaks are so fun. I used a couple of them here to make a card for my hubby: "Make no mis-steak" and "You're the best".
Then, at the bottom, I added the "love you" sentiment from the new set, Dad Squared (which also had sentiments made to fit inside the Text Box die). That "love you" is going to be great for so many different types of cards!

Next up, I used the Text Box Die paired with Sentiments Squared, to make this fun card for a lady!
Can I just interject here, how much I LOOOOVE this new background stamp?!! It's called Big Plans and while it works great on masculine cards because it's a floor plan image, I love it because it can add a bit of graphic detail to ANY card! You can see here, that I paired it with flowers, and I LOVE how it looks!!
For the sentiement, I used all different mix and match sentiments from Sentiment Squared to fill in the little openings on the Text Box Die. And how fun is that two-toned sentiment?! There are three word options like that, included in Sentiment Squared, each with two stamps. Of course, you could leave off the bottom layer if you wanted, but why would you when the bottom layer adds so much fun detail to the word?! Haha!
The flowers are extras I had floating around my desk, and I love how they're spilling out from behind that cute sentiment box!
{HELLO supplies}

One more for today, featuring the new Reflections stamps and die. The nice thing about this set, is that it could work for a guy or a gal, making it super versatile. And it's so pretty, too!
I started off with a piece of white card stock, and die cut the tree tops with the Reflections die. Then, I started stamping the layers, following the easy guide that comes with the set. You just stamp each layer in the order shown and voila! Done!
PRO TIP: It's a really simple card, so to give it a bit of depth and added interest, use your ink blending brush to blend on some soft color behind the trees!
To finish this one off, I added a pair of sentiment options included in the set, to make this a birthday card.
