Hiii, friends! It's my turn to share for TGIF at The Greetery! I so enjoyed the new release goodies a couple weeks ago, so I used them paired with some older release Macrame dies, to create a card and tag set!
I'll probably be using these for different people, but you could for sure give a set of cards and/or a set of tags as gifts, or you could write a note in the card for someone and send the tags along as the gift. OR, you could pop them a sweet little glassine bag decorated with another one of the coordinating tags and give them to the recipient by hand. So many options! I had so much fun making them!
Let me tell you about them!
So, like I said, I used a couple of the macrame dies to create that SUPER sweet stripey detail on the side! First, I die cut the striped diamond design out of the red card stock. I tucked a piece of pink card stock behind it and bam! Pink and red stripes!!
Then, I added the aqua die cut on top. Doesn't it just remind you of Christmas candy or candy canes or something? Haha!
Next, I added the Abundant Joy sentiment and tucked some floral bits on top, along with a GLITTERED pine branch!
PRO TIP: Die cut the Pine Wisp dies from glitter card stock! LOL! That's my tip! You won't regret it! Hahaha! This particular glitter card stock doesn't shed glitter all over, so I love it! It's amazing how not-messy it is! Those pine branches look SO festive, cut from glitter card stock!
You could, of course, also just cut them from regular card stock and add glitter manually if you have the time and don't mind the mess.
I started thinking about using the macrame dies on tags one night, as I was drifting off to sleep, and that's really where this whole set started. I got in the studio the next day, and couldn't wait to try it out and see how it looked. Turns out, I LOVE IT!!
You'll want to repeat the same steps as on the card above, die cutting the stripes on the tags first, and then layering another color behind, that will show through. You can see that on the brown tag, I used glitter card stock behind so it peeks through the striped slats. That also looks SUPER festive in real life! But I will tell you, I used the teensiest scraps because I like to use every last bit of that paper if I can! It's like gold to me! Hahaha!
PRO TIP: If you are doing like I did, and just using teensy scraps on the back of your tag, cover that mess on the back up, by die cutting a second tag (really, from whatever other color you want) and glue it to the back of the tag. That way, it hides all of your scrappy bits and gives you a place to write the to/from info.
With the circle tag, I just die cut the red one and die cut the stripes from it. Then, die cut a second pink tag and glued it to the back of the red tag. Easy peasy!
Check out that tiny circle tag! I had a bit of red macrame die cut left over, so I trimmed it up and just put that single diamond/square shape on the circle! Gosh, I love that bit of detail behind the flower!!!
PRO TIP: Remember to look at your scraps and see if there are any little bits that you could trim up, so they look like they were meant to be that way, and tuck them somewhere on your project! No die cut scrap left behind! LOL.
PRO TIP: Or heck, you could even die cut and trim out a bunch of these little diamond shapes and put them on lots of tags on purpose, instead of just using up a scrap! OR, OR you could use a bunch of them to create a sweet little diamond background pattern on a card! How pretty would that be?! Someone make that and tag me on instagram, if you do! Haha!
Those adhesive gems I used, are from JoAnn's. I've had them for a couple years, but they're super fun because they're faceted.
The yarn I used, is from Hobby Lobby and it's another one that I've had for a couple years now. It's great because it's yarn, rather than twine. So you get a whole big skein of it, rather than a tiny spool like you do with twine. And even though it's yarn, it's still small enough to easily thread through the holes on tags. Comes in several colors. I have it in the brown/white, red/white, black/white and gray/white. It's super soft, too. Not that this is critical when using it for hanging tags, but you know. Just sayin'! Haha!
And another group shot, because you know I can't resist!
