Welcome back!! It's Day 2 of introducing the new Calico Fields Collection, launching at The Greetery tomorrow morning at 10am EDT! Let's dig right in, shall we?
Ok, so first up is the new Rolling Hills stencil and die! I die cut some white card stock with that hills pattern (It's all one piece), and then used the stencils to stencil on all the color and the stripes!
PRO TIP: Since the stripes are stenciled directly on top of your hill ink color, I recommend experimenting on a bit of scratch paper first, with various colors you might want to layer on top of each other. Just like when you're painting, the first color you put down, affects how the next color will look when layered over top. Experimenting first, allows you to not get to stencil number 6 -- the last stripes in the group, and then find out that you hate the stripe color on top of that hill color and now your whole panel is wrecked! Haha!
I used some of the elements from the Countryside die, to add buildings and such, to my hills. I also used the new Rolling Hills Trees die to add the trees. Everything here was just die cut from white card stock, and then I blended the ink on with a blending brush!
I'll show a bit of the process in a Reel over on Instagram today!

For this card, I used the new Time for Gratitude stamp, stencil and die, which coordinates with the previously released Hourglass Frame dies. I didn't want a boring Fall color combo, so I added a bit of purple in the mix, with an Orchid ink, and I love how it looks with the oranges and brown!
PRO TIP: I tried several different color combos for the typography here, and what I loved the most, was using a slightly lighter shade from the same color family, for the shading inside the words and a darker tone in the same family, for the outline. I used a Rust color for the outline of the words, and then went with a Mango color for the inner portion. It just makes for a really pretty, polished look.
Lastly, I used a couple little die cut flowers from the set, as a popped up accent.

One more for you! How fun is that scene?! This set includes 8 stencils! EIGHT! SO.....
PRO TIP: Plan ahead! As you can see in the scene, some of the colors get layered on top of others, so experiment with those layering colors before you commit to your card front! Also, go ahead and look at each stencil and plan out what colors you want to use for each layer, so that once you start stenciling, it's a simpler process and you're not trying to wing it as you go, and then potentially not be happy with your finished piece. Also...
PRO TIP: Don't be afraid to use more than one color per stencil! Some stencils may have a pumpkin at the bottom, that you want to be orange, but maybe you don't want orange at the top! Use whatever colors you want, wherever you want! And also....
PRO TIP: Don't be afraid to use more than one color per OBJECT! Remember that stenciling gives you prime opportunity for shading all. the. things! So, in the case of the red leaves on the left of my card, notice that they also have a hint of purple at the bottom. That's because I blended some purple over the bottom edge of the red! And see the yellow leaf on the right? I also blended over the bottom of it with a bit of red, so I created some orange and gave it an ombré effect! Stenciling gives you lots of room to play with color!
I added some little die cut flowers down at the bottom, with a bit of foam adhesive.
How about that ombré sentiment?!! It's from the new Thankful Heart stamp set, and there's a coordinating stencil that allows you to fill in the letters with color, which again, gives you so many options for blending colors!! I blended yellow on the top half and red on the bottom, and where they overlapped, it looks orange! So fun!
