Hello there! It's my turn to share for TGIF at The Greetery!
We love to watch cooking and baking competition shows on tv, and with regard to cakes, it seems like the sky's the limit when it comes to how you can decorate them! So, when I saw that darling cake from the Takes the Cake collection in the April release, I knew right away that I wanted to pair it with some over-the-top decor and the BotaniCuts Morning Glory set was perfectly oversized just enough to fit, while also adding a whole lot of drama to my cake!!
My parents recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and these morning glories are right up my mom's alley in terms of color, so it was a no brainer to make this a card for their anniversary!
Of course you could leave off the candles, but they add that extra bit of fun on top of the cake, and I think there's never a bad time to add candles! Haha! They bring the fun and that's always a good thing!
Hope this cake inspires you to look at your stamp collection and come up with some really fun decorated cakes of your own!!
PRO TIP: Place your florals (or whatever you're decorating your cake with) wherever you want them on the cake and then trim along the bottom edge of the cake to give it a "decorated cake" look. I added the scalloped detail from the Takes the Cake set, to add a finishing touch to that edge, just like they do with icing on all the baking shows!

And of course, while you're creating, you might be like me and not be able to stop with just one card! Haha! So, I took similar colors, as well as some elements from the new Hey Cupcake set, to create a birthday card, too!
I just couldn't get enough of this color combo when I was creating with these products for the release, and I had an extra cake "floral design" element so I wanted to show you how it can totally be used without a cake and still makes a GORGEOUS card!!
I layered it up with some other surprise elements from the April release! The teal layer was cut with the Window Dressing Dotted Scallops die. It makes for a great anchor spot for ANY focal point you might want to layer on it!
And behind that teal layer, at the top and bottom, I added a cupcake "wrapper" die cut from the Hey Cupcake set! I just cut one of the circles in half and glued one half to the top and one to the bottom of the teal panel! Such a fun and festive detail!
PRO TIP: Don't be afraid to cut your die cuts in half! And look for ways to use them differently than how they were intended! Doing both of these things gives you way more ways to use your dies, and therefore gives you way more bang for your buck!!

Here's the cutie pair together! Man, I love color coordinated cards! They're not matchy-matchy, but they look so fun together! Wouldn't this be a great starting point for creating a whole set of cards to give as a gift?! Orrrrrr....
PRO TIP: Have fun putting together a whole stack of color coordinated cards, which will bring you a ton of joy just in the creating! BUT THEN, set up a super cute little card station with your cards, that can serve as a bit of Spring decor! Think cute little basket or tin with your color coordinated cards tucked inside, as well as all you need to grab one every few days to drop in the mail or to give away! Color coordinated pens, washi, envelopes, postage stamps....but make it all cute so you can leave it out on the side table or wherever! That way, you'll be more inclined to keep using them up! And then when they're gone, start over with a new color combo and do it all again! How fun would that be?!!
All right, that's it for me today, but I hope I've gotten you a bit inspired to get creating! Head to The Greetery Blog for more!
Have a great weekend!
