Hey friends! Popping in to share a fun project for The Greetery! I made fun bookmarks to go along with several Christmas gifts, but this is something you could make any time of the year, for yourself or for others.
It all started when I decided I wanted to make a new bookmark for my Advent Bible study book. I had an old floral bookmark in it that I'd made years ago, and wanted to create something festive with a holiday feel, to use in my Advent book. So I set out to make myself something pretty using the Tag Team Duo Die, which makes a great sized bookmark!
PRO TIP: All of these ideas will also work if you want to use these as gift tags instead of bookmarks!!
I used the Winterberry Bouquet and Heaven & Nature Sing stamp sets and did some stamping and then I decided to add several layers to my bookmark, to make it bit more interesting and fun! So I added on a Starburst Bauble die cut, and a Tear Strip Tag that was layered with the Tear Strip Tags Cover Ups and some glitter card stock, and behind my bookmark, I added another solid red layer, just for another pop of color!
Then, I got to thinking that there were several people we were giving books to for Christmas, and I decided to make some additional bookmarks in a variety of colors, to suit each gift recipient! I tucked each one into their books before wrapping them up!
To make this one, I pulled out the Mimosa Musings stamp set and stamped it with a really fun and interesting color combo! I stamped a pale orchid color first (Orchid ink stamped off once before stamping on the bookmark) and then layered a rust-colored ink on top with the detail stamp! You maybe wouldn't normally think of layering an orangey tone on a purple tone, but it makes for such pretty flowers in real life! I layered on more of the additional bits and bobs, and added a strip of that coordinating rose gold card stock along the bottom of the bookmark/tag. I added two other strips of card stock in Party Pink and Rusty, to reiterate the colors of my stamping, and stamped a sentiment from Stitched Sentiments, to remind my sweet friend that I'm grateful for her, every time she opens her book!
For the pink and green bookmark, I used a pair of pink-toned tags and stamped the top one with Sketched Wildflower, as well as a tiny sentiment from that set.
I layered on another Tear Strip Tag, as well as one of the Tassel Small die cuts!
And lastly, to make the blue version, I used a die cut I'd previously stamped from Sketchbook Roses. (This set is retired, but I'm betting many of you have it in your stash!) I laid the die cut over the light blue bookmark layer and just trimmed off all the bits that hung over the edges. (I like a bookmark with a straight edge, in case I want to use it to keep track of where I might have to stop reading in the middle of a page!)
Truly, the sky's the limit with how you can make these! Just raid your stamp and die stash and see what you can come up with! Make some for your friends, and be sure to make one or two for yourself! Tuck one in your Bible! They'll be little day-brighteners every time you see them!
Enjoy your day, friends, and happy creating!
