Hey, Friends! It's my turn to share for TGIF today at The Greetery and I wanted to pull out the pretty Oakwood set again, and give it some more love! I paired it up with a couple of the Autumn Crest products, to create a really lovely pair of cards.
I wanted to think outside the coloring box just a little on these leaves, so I paired some pink with the orange and red. Of course the orange and red are more realistic colors, but the addition of the pink adds some unexpected interest and gives the card a really fresh, modern feel!
PRO TIP: For even more depth, go over some of the shading lines with colored pencils, to darken up the shading in places. Focus on areas where the light would not be naturally hitting in real life. So for instance, the tips of the leaves would be getting hit with more sunlight than the inner areas of the leaves closest to the stem. So those darker areas, you can darken up a bit more to give your image even more depth!
I used the Autumn Crest branch stamp and leaf stencil on the background, and then used the Crest No. 1 die to cut out the crest, and then used one of the Autumn Crest dies to add the shading to the center of the crest.
PRO TIP: Make your shading more interesting! Don't shade the whole crest! Just go dark at the bottom and fade it out to no shading at all at the top (or reverse that and go darker from top to bottom). Either direction you go, you'll create a subtle ombre!
Lastly, I stamped a sentiment from Oakwood directly on the crest.
For this one, I had some blending fun with yellow and orange on the largest leaves, that blend into purple! I also did that same purple at the base of all the leaves, but on the smaller leaves, I used red for the tips instead of the yellow/orange combo. Overall, the color palette of the entire cluster is just so striking!
PRO TIP: This time when adding the shading to the crest, I didn't add any ink to the center. I only inked it up all around the edge of the crest and let that fade out toward the center. This created a dark border all the way around the crest, with a highlighted spot in the center.
Once again, I used colored pencils to deepen some of the shading and the sentiments are both from Oakwood.
